Creativity

This is one desirable quality a web site must possess to lead the race in the merciless competition any Internet based business faces. With so many competition and contention going on, every method of marketing must be employed and utilized.

It doesn’t matter if you have a killer creation or a extremely well designed funky website, if people don’t know that you exist, it doesn’t matter, and you are not going to make it big. Worse of all, your business could just die out.

While there are so many methods and schemes used by so many e-commerce sites today, there are still some of those that can help you with an extra boost in the search engine ratings. One of these is the so called Viral Marketing.

While the term Viral easily depicts a virus, a word very much dreaded by all computer owners, it is not what it seems. You do not actually use a computer virus to spread your word of your business. Everyone has had enough of all those pop up ads and spywares – DON’T use these methods.

Viral Marketing Overview

Viral Marketing also known as Viral Advertising is a marketing practice used to build the customer awareness of your product or web site. They use many forms of media to reach out to the public without actually promoting the product by riding on in other forms of addictive means that could get a person hooked and be obliged or amused to actually pass it on, with the product or web site advertisement along with it.

In a nutshell, you can ride on the idea that if people like the content of a media they will pass it on to their friends, colleagues and family. They sponsor the certain media, such as a cool flash game, funny video, amusing story and such, which one may pass on to another with the company brand or logo or the products description or any other content to help promote the company, it’s web site or product.

Viral marketing has become a popular means of advertising and marketing because they are fairly cost effective. To avoid being tagged as spam mail, viral marketing counts on the eagerness of one person to pas on the product. If a person sees the name of the person they know as the sender, they won’t block it and open it as well.

Many companies offer incentives such as free stuff, an e-book etc., discounts and rebates when they help in spreading their viral marketing. They rely on the number of recipients a viral marketing gets from one person in determining the amount or number of incentive they can be attributed with.

Using Viral Marketing to your advantage

The main and leading advantage of viral marketing is that you get a lot of publicity and customer awareness about your site and your company. You get to generate a flow of traffic to your site that are potential customers. With a little ingenuity and imagination, plus some incentives or prizes, you can reach out to a great number of people and announce your existence.

Lots of sites today are catching on to the efficient and cost effective nature of Viral Marketing and Advertising. Not using it could eradicate your business. Along with other schemes and methods in promoting your site, like Search Engine Optimization and such, viral marketing could easily push you ahead in the rating games.

Viral Marketing could be a great way to get people to know about you and your web site. You get them to pass your advertisement along. This marketing method is also very low cost that not investing in it could be downright a business suicide. All it takes is a great idea, a good addicting game, a funny story many ideas are still out there. Create a gossip or a hype or buzz, many movies are promoted by using scandals and gossips to make them moiré popular. Remember the movie “The Blair Witch Project”?

Many big companies have tried viral marketing and have had many success stories with it. A classic example is Microsoft’s Hotmail. They were the first known big company to utilize the scheme and it has worked wonders for them.

Now it’s your turn to use viral marketing to work wonders for you. Act now and reap the benefits Viral Marketing will provide for you and your sales figures.

Well, what can you say about Google, it’s everyone’s favourite, Google always offers the most results for any given search (they currently have over 8 billion pages indexed), it’s faster than the old Porsche 911 we test drove this morning, and most of the time, all the front page results are relevant to my search. In fact, I usually find what I’m looking for within the first few sites listed.

Google owes their success to their great search algorithm. This complex formula digests a web page, considers its keyword density, its link popularity, domain name, how often it is updated, the amount of content in the site, and a myriad of other things which in turns returns the resulting search to you in a pre-sorted order. There is absolutely no way to be sure how to get your site to number one on Google, but there are a few things that all web masters know can help:

1. Make sure your site is well organized, visitor friendly and useful. Google seems to like sites that are listed in the Open Directory Project (ODP), and my theory is that it’s because ODP is human edited and seen as the authority source. This means real human eyes have looked at each web site that is included in the directory and deemed it useful in some way or another. If your site has a link on ODP, you’re on the right track.

2. Avoid “spamming”. Spamming refers to many different things. If the keyword density is too high, or the keywords are out of context or worse hidden from plain view (not seen by visitors, just search engines), it’s considered spamming. Continually submitting your site to Google can be looked upon as spamming. The basic principal is to make sure every page on your site is professional looking, clean, organized and has its own unique information to offer.

3. Try to trade links with good quality sites that you like, this acts as another form of “human editing”, chances are they have something to offer and Google will recognize that. The more good quality sites around the web that have links pointing to your site, the higher your link popularity will be.

4. Stay away from sites which contain the latest and greatest rich internet clients for displaying content. Only use these technology types for customer interaction. If you do use these technologies, offer alternative views ie. If your site has been designed in Flash, try to offer a plain HTML version of the site. Google can index the rich internet clients, such as flash but it’s not likely that it will be indexed well, and your ranking will suffer. On the HTML front, frames are also a no-no. Although Google can index framed sites as well, again, the ranking can suffer and more importantly, frames are unanimously seen as clumsy!

5. Keep the content on each page to a decent level. You don’t want too much content, drowning your readers, but you definitely do not want too little. A good way to judge what a good content level is, is to search for the #1 ranking site for the keywords you wish to target, and see how much content they have. Make your content keyword-rich, but don’t make it so full of keywords that it sounds ridiculous to visitors.

Google nearly always offers you the best resource for you to check your efforts against since all of these things matter to them. They are also always trying to find ways to improve on the Google Algorithm, in turn offering improved service to their customers (you and I).

Every once in a while we hear about a new search engine being born, but no one seems to have been able to catch up. As long as this remains true, these simple tips will be applicable.

Like an opening act for a play, the telegraph, telephone, and radio all took a part in introducing the Internet, sometimes incorrectly called the World Wide Web. The Internet has had no problem taking over and crushing many predictions about whether or not it would be successful. It has no boundaries and pays no attention to international borders or geographic locations. Instantly you are connected to scores of businesses and people all over the world.

With its origins dating back almost 50 years ago, J.C.R. Licklider at MIT recorded the first description of the communications that could be performed through networking. Between him and a host of other individuals with brilliant thinking ahead of their time, the idea of the internet was conceived.

The first e-mail made its emergence back in the early 1970’s as a way for the developers to communicate with one another. By the mid-1980’s the Internet was being used by various developers and researchers as well as being tried out by many leading edge computer businesses. It officially born and given a name in October 1995.

Today, the Internet became a vital part of today’s economy. Many companies regard it as a critical part of their daily activities. You and I rely on it for their communication to the outside world. Bills may be paid, homework study accomplished, books read, on-line shopping accomplished, music downloaded and personal relationships established through their access to the internet.

Although it may not seem so, the Internet is continuously evolving and has changed greatly in the last 2 decades since its birth. Through file sharing, remote login, resource sharing and electronic mail, it has definitely kept up with the fast-paced computer industry. Expect this fast pass to continue into the future.

RSS can actually be explained in three words, it may stand for Really Simple Syndication, but it’s actually doesn’t mean anything. It’s an acronym!

Depending on who you ask and what version of RSS you are speaking about, it may stand for Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, RDF Site Summary, or a variation on one of those. But what its called doesn’t matter, you also don’t need to care about is the differentversions. There are 0.90 and 0.91 (created by Netscape), 1.0 (by RSS-DEV), and 0.9x and 2.0 (by UserLand Software) versions, but almost all applications that handle RSS feeds can read all the different versions. There’s also a similar format called Atom, explained below.

RSS is a text-based format, a type of XML, it’s nice to know this only because often RSS files are often labeled as XML. RSS version 1.0 is also RDF (whatever), which, again, is interesting only because an RSS file may be labeled as RDF. RSS files (which are also called RSS feeds or channels) simply contain a list of items. Usually, each item contains a title, summary, and a link to a URL (e.g. a web page). Other information, such as the date, creator’s name, etc., may also be available depending on the source of the feed. The most common use for RSS files is for news and other reverse-chronologically ordered websites like blogs. For example, this site is a blog, which is also available in RSS format. An item’s description may contain all of a news article, blog post, etc., or just an extract or summary. The item’s link will usually point to the full content located at the article source site (although it may also point to what the content itself links to).

When a website has an RSS feed, it is said to be “syndicated.” There are various other syndication formats besides RSS (such as Atom), but RSS is by far the most widely used and supported today. RSS files do not have a common file extension, although they frequently end in one of .xml, .rss, or .rdf (note that other extensions may be used also). The term “scraping” refers to creating an RSS feed for a website that doesn’t provide one itself (i.e. scraping the text off of the page). That is, scraped feeds are not created by the same people who created the content within the feed. The issue with scraped RSS feeds may stop working if the page changes its layout.

What is Atom and why am I talking about it here?

Atom is a format quite similar to RSS. It was created by people who felt that RSS could be enhanced, and some that disagreed with some of the politics regarding RSS. Like anything that is generated by a committee, lots of different arguments surface over time about which format is better.

There are pros and cons to the format, but that’s more complex than I am going to deal with here. The basic difference is that while Atom is somewhat more complex (for producers of Atom feeds), it is also able to carry more composite information, and it is consistent across the syndication, storage, and editing of information. Just about everything on this page which discusses RSS applies equally well to Atom. You can learn more about Atom at the official website, AtomEnabled.org.

If the answer to the 1st two is yeap, but you aren’t aware or aren’t doing the last point, then your blog isn’t as eminent as could be.

One of the most significant requirements of having a successful blog is generating traffic on the website. site visitors is the difference between having a successful money generating blog and a blog that becomes a little more than a money sink. To generate traffic to your site, you must have a system. Pinging is an important part of the system and it is essential if you want to get more traffic to your blog.

1. What is ping? This is often a confusing subject due to the technical jargon. A useful definition is as follows ping: Pinging is a practice that every time you add a new Post on your blog a pinging service, lets other blogs or search engines you know, that new content is available on your blog. In turn, the “pinged” blog or search engine will send a program called “spider” or “bot” to rank your site. Results of the ranking will be recognized and will affect the blog search services.

2. Simply put, a blog ping service that notifies other web services that your blog is updated. What happens next, these Web services to check your blog and index it and rank your new content. Therefore, each time you add a new post in your blog, your blog will have a higher rank and thus, get more traffic to your website.

3. In fact, without a ping, instead of your blog or indexed in the ranking only occasionally, often during periods of months to index your blog’s ranking and every time you add a message.

4. I recommend you check the website service will be notified when your blog updates. For example, if your blog is linked with a number of ping and notify the same site, a blog can be considered as spam by the Web service. So be careful. If all the doubts which ping services announces the safest option is to select a ping service and go with him until more knowledge on the subject.

Two major components of these services is that they are free and effective at increasing your blog is unique and which resulted in a significant move. Another important aspect is that they are user friendly. Often, simply enter your name and address of the blog to use as many pinging services. Others will require the IP address to be running.

Pinging your blog will greatly improve traffic to your site and increase the potential profit-making, not to mention its status and credibility. Most importantly, you will have more time to blog content, even better, because you do not have to worry about traffic.

The Internet has become such an integral form of communication in our society that the majority of Internet users have created blogs without the realizing that they can earn money for their information. Here are three tips on how to make money online through blogs I wish to share with you.

The types of blogs to create

When you create a blog, it is important to properly categorize your posts. There is a need for all types of information, but how to present this information will determine the potential earnings.

If you have never created a blog, you can try to create the same type of formats available on your favorite websites. This leads many people to create blogs that are trying to serve a variety of information niches.

It is always a better idea to choose one or two niches, and create a blog as an authority on the topic. Pour your efforts will make a few dozen of your information very thin and leaves the guests have a more detailed services.

The importance of updating

The amount of information available on the web site gives users several ways to provide new information. If you build a base of loyal repeat visitors, it does not mean that they have developed long-term devotion to your website.

If your blog becomes inactive, go for a few days or weeks without regular updates, users quickly find the information they need from other sources.

Selling Your Blog

The majority of sites reaches the point of reduction in yield, if your income does not grow without major changes. If your blog maximized their income, rather than the implementation time, you can sell your blog.

A typical sale scenario I recently experienced was I had created a blog that was providing me a $ 200 a monthly revenue and was lucky enough to find a buyer willing to pay 2,400 U.S. dollars, based on expected revenue of the site over the next 12 months.
